What are weep holes in RV windows?

Weep holes are small channels built into the RV or trailer window to drain rain water. They help prevent damage from water from getting trapped behind the window.

Here's an example of what a weep hole can look like.

A person is pointing at the slot in the window trim to show where the weep hole is.

Why it matters

The weep holes flow in one direction. Each window is meant to be installed so the water can flow down and drip off. If you turn a window and install it so that the drains can't flow, then you won't get the full benefit of the weep holes.

Sealing to prevent leaks

Some people like to use silicone around trim or windows to make sure they won't leak. Make sure you don't plug the weep hole openings if you are adding silicone!
